A-Shape
CFL A-Shape bulbs are also called Capsule CFLs. They look much like the traditional incandescent lamps, a CFL spiral lamp with a dome cover. Consumers who do not like the spiral look will find the A-Shape or Capsule CFLs a more familiar look with the same spiral CFL energy saving features. CFL A-Shape bulbs have a Standard / Medium (E26) base and their light is similar to the soft white of incandescents.
Note: A-Shape CFL bulbs are more expensive than their Spiral counterparts due to the dome cover. While you will still save money over incandescents, these will save you less money than spirals.To calculate your savings, click on the Energy Star CFL savings calculator.(XLS)
