Make The Switch to CFL

Benefits of Compact Fluorescent Lighting (CFLs)

- Much more efficient energy. Needs only 1/3 of the energy to produce the same amount of electricity.

- While upfront cost is initially higher total cost over the life of the bulb is substantially cheaper. Average life is 10 times incandescent bulbs. For example an 18 watt CFL could save up to $60 or more. Calculate your savings.

- Reduced air and water pollution. CFLs do have mercury and you are advised to recycle them. The mercury level is much lower than produced by power plants. For a review of Energy Star Mercury Fact Sheet (PDF)

- Higher quality light. Use rare earth phosphors for excellent color and warmth. New ballasts don't flicker or hum.
