Returns Information

Our returns policy differs for the U.S and International clients. Please review below each policy separately.

Domestic U.S. clients returns:


Please open and inspect your order within 2 days of receipt. If you need to initiate a return please send an e-mail to [email protected] or call toll free (888)405-6064, locally (202)640-2570 for a return materials authorization (RMA) number prior to returning products. Returns sent COD will not be accepted.


Customer Service will send you an RMA number with an RMA form. You will complete the form and insert it in your return shipping package and mail it back to the address specified on the RMA form.



General Item Returns:

- Eligible Time Period: 30 days from delivery date for clients in the United States. Unless the product is damaged or defective, you are responsible for the shipping charges to return the product back to us.


- Non-Eligible Items: caulks, foams, mastic, tapes, tankless water heaters, and items that are not in original condition. We want you to be satisfied with the products purchased from us, but are unable to refund products that have been installed, for which the original packaging has been destroyed, or that are otherwise not in original condition and resalable. You are responsible for returning products in a safe, unbroken condition, so please pack returns carefully. You may want to insure returns of valuable merchandise. Upon receipt and satisfactory condition of original condition, a credit equal to the product purchase price will be issued to you through the same payment method you used to pay for the order.


- Anytime you purchase a Free Shipping product and you decide to return it at a later date, we will charge your credit card with an estimate of the shipping charge to you. Free Shipping is a cost we incur to make the sale and if the sale is returned then you will incur the charge.


- For all Vitreous China, toilet and bath products, tankless water heaters, other major appliances and their accessories, there is a restocking fee of 25% for returns that are not due to a mistake on our part. For alternative energy products such as solar and wind and their accessories, the restocking fee is 30%. We also may not be able to return any toilet seat or Washlet if the seal is opened. Please make sure of the product you order before placing the order. Shipping and restocking fees on these products can be costly. A similar fee applies to custom ordered products, where the product is not in stock but is ordered directly from the manufacturer. If you are unsure whether the restocking fee applies, feel free to either call us or e-mail us. We will promptly answer you.


Incorrectly Shipped Orders:

- Eligible Time Period: 2 business days from delivery date
Depending on the original method of shipment we will either issue a UPS Call Tag or send a prepaid return address label for you to return the incorrectly shipped merchandise. We will ship a new order for the correct merchandise within one business day.


Damaged Item Returns:
- Eligible Time Period: 2 business days from delivery date If an order has arrived damaged you should notify both thenergyconscious.com and the carrier within 2 business days. All packaging should be kept because the carrier may choose to inspect the damaged goods and shipping box at the delivery address. Theenergyconscious.com will issue a credit to the customer pending confirmation from the carrier. We may or may not request return of the damaged goods. If we do request that the goods be returned, we will either issue a UPS call tag or provide a prepaid return address label to be used for returning those items damaged in transit.

Defective Item Returns:

- Eligible Time Period: 3 Months from delivery date (unless otherwise noted)
Depending on the original method of shipment we will either issue a UPS Call Tag or send a prepaid return address label to you for return of the merchandise. A credit will be issued when the defective items are received. You are not responsible for the cost of return of defective merchandise when a UPS Call Tag or prepaid return address label is used. You are responsible for the cost of return shipping if you do not use one of these methods. If the merchandise fails during the manufacturer's product warranty, but after one year from the purchase date, Theenergyconscious.com reserves the right to refer you to the manufacturer for replacement of the failed product.

- The Energy Conscious is not liable for any damages or claims which may arise from the use of these products.
- It is incumbent on the installer to follow all applicable federal, state and local codes associated with radon control.
- We recommended testing for radon both before and after installing radon control products and consulting with the EPA and state and local health departments for guidance.
- We Can NOT accept returns or issue credit for these products. Customers are responsible for selecting and installing radon control products correctly.

International clients are responsible for the cost of shipping to the International checkout within the U.S. The Energy Conscious pays for freight on eligible returns from the International Checkout location in the US to its ultimate warehouse destination.



- Eligible Time Period: No returns are allowed for sales outside the US, except if the product is defective (see below)
