Thermometers
Thermometers are a great way to monitor your home and appliance temperature at a very reasonable cost. Below are thermometers that you can use to control your refrigerator's temperature. Refrigerators are one of the largest energy users in the home (estimated at 5% of home energy consumption). Wall plate thermometers under the Plate Pals brand give you a digital temperature reading in each room as soon as you turn on the light. A few of these models also offer a relative room humidity reading.
What is RH?
Humidity, the amount of moisture or water vapor in the air, is most often talked about in terms of Relative Humidity (RH). RH is the amount of water vapor actually present in the air compared to the greatest amount of water vapor the air can hold at that temperature.
The optimum RH level for a building is generally considered to be between 30% and 50%. Anything above this range may promote bacteria growth. (In colder climates, during the heating season, humidity levels should be in the range of 30% to 40% RH to prevent window condensation.)
