Solar Attic Fan Models for Residential or Commercial Use
Natural Light manufactures solar attic fans for all roof types and roof pitches for residential homes, industrial buildings or commercial offices. The roof-mounted solar attic fan, our most popular residential model, installs directly on most roof types including shingle, shake and tile roofs. The gable-mounted model attaches to your homes' existing gable opening and is powered by a remote solar panel installed on the roof. The garage vent kit adds an exhaust system to the solar attic fan that efficiently pulls hot air out of your garage. The curb mounted solar attic fan, generally used for commercial applications, attaches to a pre-built curb and can vent up to 2,500 square feet per unit.
Residential Roof Mounted Natural Light Solar Attic Fan The roof mounted solar attic fan is our most popular model for residential installations. It can be installed either on a pitched or flat roof and is available in either 10, 20 or 30 watt models in powder-coated gray or black satin. |
Commercial Curb Mounted Solar Attic Fans The curb mounted solar attic fan is perfect for industrial and commercial buildings. Two sizes available: 20 or 30 watt. |
Residential Gable Mounted Solar Attic Fans The gable mounted solar attic fan is installed into a homes existing gable opening and powered by a remote solar panel on the roof. |
Garage Exhaust Vent Kit Garage vent is an add-on kit that converts a roof or curb mounted solar attic fan into a garage exhaust system. The kit can be added to all models sizes: 10, 20 or 30 watt. |
Key Features of Natural Light Solar Attic Fans:
How does it work?
1. Heat Builds Inside An improperly Vented Attic
The sun beats down on a homes' roof and heats up the enclosed attic space. Passive vents (soffit, ridge or louvre) allow some circulation but do not provide the pressure needed to force out the hot air. |
2. Solar Attic Fan Provides Air Circulation
The photovoltaic panel of the solar attic fan collects sunlight that powers the fans motor to increase air movement. |
3. Air Circulation Moves Hot Air Out Of Attic Space
The increased air circulation provides the pressure needed to force out the hot air from your attic. Attic venting can cool your attic space by up to 40 degrees! |
Competitive Comparison of Solar Attic Fan Components
There are several companies that manufacture solar attic fans, but when it comes to quality and performance, no one compares to the Natural Light.
The Natural Light Solar Attic Fan incorporates a high impact photovoltaic solar panel with a 25 year warranty. The panels are available in 3 sizes (10, 20 or 30 watt) to accommodate the correct amount of ventilation needed. Natural Light has developed a unique adjustable mounting bracket that allows the solar panel to be positioned in the angle where it will collect the most sunlight to provide optimum fan performance. The mounting bracket also allows air to continually circulate around the solar panel keeping it cool for a consistent output. Many of our competitors offer a fixed solar panel that can hinder the units' performance.

Commercial Pure Grade Aluminum Housing The solar attic fan housing is constructed of 1100 series, commercial pure grade aluminum with no seams to prevent leaking. Because it is exposed to the harsh effects of the environment on a daily basis, Natural Light powder-coats the unit both inside and out for extra-durability. Many of our competitors either paint only the outside or do not paint the unit at all. Also, many of our competitors use less durable materials to house their attic fans including polypropylene (plastic), sheet metal or galvanized steel. |
Powerful, Quiet Direct Current Motor The Natural Light Solar Attic Fan utilizes a German engineered direct current motor. The motor is precision balanced to achieve low motor vibration and low motor noise. Additionally, the motor sits in an isolation bracket to further ensure a smooth, quiet operation. Each motor undergoes individual motor winding testing to ensure consistent motor performance. Natural Light backs up the solar attic fan motor with a 25 year warranty. Some of our competitors use lower grade motors with much shorter warranties. |
5-Wing Fan Blade Natural Light Solar Attic Fans incorporate a five-wing, precision balanced blade for the highest cfm output. The fan blades are manufactured using a non-corrosive aluminum to withstand all weather conditions. Many of our competition offer only 3 or 4 blades and some are made of plastic. |
Protective Animal Screen The interior of a Natural Light Solar Attic Fan is protected by a stainless steel wire screen mesh. The screen keeps out debris, bugs, birds and small rodents while allowing air to circulate freely. Some of our competitors use lower grade mesh such as plastic or steel that rusts over time. |
Commercial Pure Grade Aluminum Flashing The flashing is extremely important component as it is responsible for keeping your roof from leaking. The Natural Light Solar Attic Fan flashing is constructed of 1100 series, commercial pure grade aluminum with no seams. Its round shape minimizes damage to roof shingles and enables it to withstand the stresses of expansion and contraction due to the temperature variations. Many of our competitors use lower grade galvanized materials or even plastic. Both the flashing and housing are powder-coated inside and out for extra durability. Many of our competitors either paint only the outside or do not paint the unit at all. Also, many of our competitors less durable materials such as polypropylene (plastic), sheet metal or galvanized steel for the flashing of their solar attic fans. |
