Water Heat Recovery
Water heating accounts for about 25% of home energy consumption. In multi-unit residential building installations, hot water associated cost and energy savings typically range from 20 to 40%. In commercial and industrial applications, they can achieve even go up to 70%. Drain-water is easily one of the largest overlooked sources of energy savings in residential and commercial enterprises. When warm water goes down the drain, it carries away valuable energy with it. Ninety percent of the energy used to heat water in a home can be washed out to the sewer. Drain-water heat recovery (DWHR) systems can re-capture some or most of this valuable energy and use it to preheat cold fresh water.
