Energy Star
What is Energy Star?
ENERGY STAR® is a joint U.S. Department of Energy-U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) program, formed in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership that seeks to reduce air pollution through increased energy efficiency.
With ENERGY STAR® qualified products, you can reduce energy use throughout your home.
What Makes a Product ENERGY STAR?
ENERGY STAR products are the same or better than standard products, only they use less energy. To earn the ENERGY STAR, they must meet strict energy efficiency criteria set by the US Environmental Protection Agency or the US Department of Energy. Since they use less energy, these products save you money on your electricity bill and help protect the environment by causing fewer harmful emissions from power plants. And you get the features and quality you expect.
With the online ENERGY STAR at Home tool, you can learn about easy steps to be taken to reduce energy usage, which particularly important since the greenhouse gas emissions associated with energy use at your home can be twice the associated emissions from your car.
The Energy Star Home Advisor can provide you with recommended home improvement projects to increase energy efficiency and comfort in the area where you live.
